WORKSHOP4 IDE
Workshop4 is a comprehensive software IDE for Microsoft Windows that provides an integrated software development platform for all of the 4D family of processors and modules. The IDE combines the Editor, Compiler, Linker and Downloader to develop complete 4DGL application code.
All user application code is developed within the Workshop4 IDE.

4D WORKSHOP4 IDE PRO License
This Workshop4 PRO License is an OPTIONAL upgrade to unlock advanced features. Workshop4 is still FREE to download and use. However, the PRO features require a paid license to unlock the additional features.
The Workshop4 PRO License unlocks Genie Magic for the ViSi-Genie environment and the Smart Widget Editor for both ViSi and ViSi-Genie. New Features and additions continue to be developed, and updates are made available for free once the License has been purchased.
Genie Magic
Genie Magic brings the ability to add standard 4DGL code to various points within the ViSi-Genie environment. This enables you to have all the advantages of ViSi-Genie but with the new ability to add extra 4DGL where you want it. If a feature was previously unavailable in standard ViSi-Genie but was possible in Designer or ViSi, then Workshop4 PRO is the simple answer, making the most powerful yet easy to use environment we offer.
Smart Widget Editor
The Smart Widget Editor is a comprehensive tool which allows you to create and animate Gauges, Sliders, Knobs and more, using the tools provided. This allows you to easily add custom graphics and build customised widgets, exactly as you want them.
These features are available to be unlocked by purchasing a License for Workshop4 PRO. Please see the instructions on how to acquire a license in the Overview section below.
With the aid of Workshop4 PRO, Visi-Genie becomes an incredible environment to work in with many options available to the user for advanced and flexible development.

GENIE MAGIC
Genie Magic is an extension to ViSi-Genie, which is available in Workshop4 PRO. Genie Magic allows the User to add 4DGL code to various points in the ViSi-Genie backend code, which allows Users to take full advantage of the power of 4DGL, while retaining the speed and convenience of ViSi-Genie and its defined communication protocol.
Genie Magic allows you to enter 4DGL code in the form of Events, Code and Objects, along with various touch related additions too, giving you to the power to achieve advanced GUI’s in ViSi-Genie without having to write the full code yourself.
Genie Magic is fully supported by the genieArduino and geniePi libraries, making communication with an Arduino or Raspberry Pi host even more powerful.
When using Genie Magic in combination with the Smart Widget Editor, it is possible to use the Smart Widgets Editor tool and Smart Widgets to create other graphical user interface elements such as:

To purchase the PRO license for Workshop4, and be issued with the license for your PC,
PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW in order to have the best purchasing experience.

Purchase the number of Workshop4 PRO licenses you require, using the Add To Cart button. If you are purchasing this by itself (no Hardware in your cart), please ensure you select the “NO SHIPPING (SOFTWARE ONLY)” option in the shopping cart. Complete your purchase.

Your License password will be emailed to you within 24h of receiving your order.

Download and install the latest version of the Workshop4 IDE, if not already installed.

Open Workshop4 and click on the Options button on the menu. Navigate to the License Tab.

You will find a text box to enter your email address, and another for your Password. Please enter the email address under which you wish to register the license and the password received in your email. The license will work for one (1) user on one (1) PC only.

If in the future you need to transfer your license from one PC to another (or if you formatted Windows etc), simply repeat the above steps on your new PC starting from Step 3, and confirm the transfer of the license when prompted. Any questions, please just make contact with us.
NOTE Transfer Limits apply – this is not designed to be shared with multiple users on a daily basis. If more than 1 user needs to use a license, then multiple licenses are required.

Notes
- Workshop4 is a Windows Only product. It is compatible with Windows 8 through to Windows 11.
- Some older OS such as Windows ME, Vista, XP and 7 have not been tested for some time and are not supported by Microsoft anymore; however, may still work. Legacy support updates for the older OS may not be possible, depending on what issues are found. For best results, run a current Windows OS.
- It is possible to run Workshop4 under a VM on Linux or macOS, however, it is up to the User to set this up.
