Multimedia artist Mikhail Margolis combines digital technology and traditional art, utilising 4D Systems for innovative experiences. Harnessing skills across a range of media, Margolis blends technology with traditional formats to create unique pieces. His IT background allows him to tackle the technical challenges inherent in multimedia. His art is centred on self-expression and creating works that emotionally engage viewers. A current project is an interactive installation at Galerie Charlot in Paris, which explores the digital-human imprint and our relationship with the environment. Visitors are invited to navigate the exhibit as an amoeba-like entity, prompting reflection on human interaction and our evolving relationship with technology. The installation will make use of LCD-24P4 modules, chosen for their shape and suitability for viewing from various angles.
Based in New York, USA, Carl Darby set out to create a scale model of the EVA Pod from the Movie 2001: A Space Odyssey – a 1968 epic science fiction film produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick. Not content with simply backlighting the panels, he wanted the panels to be animated just as they did in the film. Using the 1:8 scale model kit from Moebius, Darby needed to find small enough LCD screens that he could program and add into his model to replicate exactly the video screens seen in the movie.
